Wedding Announcement
You're engaged and
you want the whole world to know! Rather than just shouting it from rooftops,
here are some more effective ways to announce your wedding, and the etiquette
of whom to tell first. Typically, the bride's parents are told first, then the grooms immediately
afterwards. Even if you want many of your friends and families to be surprised all at
once, consider who would be hurt to not know immediately. You can tell them
all at once at a family dinner, or simply tell them by phone. A few phone calls will do here, unless you want to surprise everyone and tell
them all at once.
• Wedding announcements are typically sent out after a couple elopes, to tell
people about their new status. These announcements are also appropriate after
a small wedding to which many of your family and friends were not invited.
• Check with both sets of parents for names of people they would like to
receive the announcement.
• If you can't afford custom announcements, consider buying prepackaged cards
that have space for you to fill in the information yourself.
• Save a copy for your scrapbook or frame it and hang it on your wall.
